The Hurt Locker
Last night I attended a screening of Kathryn Bigelow’s latest film The Hurt Locker. Set in Iraq, The Hurt Locker closely follows the three members of the Delta Company EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) unit as they respond to calls about possible IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices). As the unit nears the end of its scheduled rotation, a shift of command is made that brings in Staff Sergent James as the new leader of the unit. James is wild and off the cuff when it comes to his job and his recklessness puts his fellow teammates, Sergent Sanborn and Specialist Eldridge, at risk. As the tension rises between James and Sanborn, so do the stakes involved with their highly volatile job. Read the rest of this entry »
Tweaking
As you may notice, I’ve added a Movie Review section to the sidebar of the site. This is where I’ll post my quick reviews about the recent films that I have seen on a scale of 0-5 stars. I’d prefer to do a 10 star rating system because it allows for a more accurate (although subjective) review, but the number of stars carries over onto a second line, and just doesn’t look all that pleasing to the eye. I also hope to have some of these starred reviews linked to my longer, personal reviews of the films that will be found on this site as well. That’s just some of the news for the site for now. Other small tweeks are being made in order to arrive at a place that I’m happy with in regards to functionality and purpose for this site. Also, this update serves an additional purpose to essentially, get one of my readers to stop pestering me for updates. You know who you are.
Anyways, that’s it for now. Keep checking back for updates and feel free to leave comments in this blog with feedback and suggestions for the site.
Change
After careful thought, I decided that it would be best if I scrapped the previous incarnation of this site, in exchance for one powered by WordPress. Ultimately, I’ve found WordPress very easy to use and manage, which has been most beneficial in keeping this site organized and easy to maintain. I plan to blog more often about my life as a college graduate and filmmaker, trying to find my way in the world, or more locally, Los Angeles. Keep reading as I’m sure I’ll update this site more often now with pictures and media that I find interesting, or that I want to share from my personal collection. I also plan to post occasional film reviews and thoughts about the industry, in order to keep you all updated with what’s new and exciting in the film world, as well as what projects and plans I have in the works. Thanks for reading, keep it up, and welcome to JBFabrications.
